St. Michael the Archangel is an archangel in the tradition of the Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches; in the Anglican and Lutheran faiths, he is called “St. Michael the Archangel” (the Archangel par excellence), or more briefly “St. Michael.” In the tradition of the Eastern Orthodox and Orthodox Churches, he is called “Thassiarch Archangel Michael,” or more briefly “Archangel Michael”
