Mary Help of Christians is one of the titles by which Mary is invoked. According to tradition, this invocation was added by Pope Pius V after the Holy League’s victory over the Ottomans at Lepanto (October 7, 1571), probably as a variant of the title Advocata christianorum found in the 1524 edition.
